Commercial Inspections, Inspections of Larger Buildings, and other Services
Our engineers are also trained and experienced in evaluating commercial properties including storefronts, small businesses, warehouse buildings, large residential apartment buildings, and other light commercial properties. In many respects these evaluations are similar to our residential inspections. For example, we evaluate the visible portions of the structural components, the heating systems, the electrical system, the plumbing systems, etc. We also examine interior and exterior surfaces and building components.
Commercial inspections, and inspections of larger buildings, can be tailored to the specific needs of our client. For example, with large residential apartment buildings it is oftentimes the case that we will examine a random sampling of the apartments. We can also enlist the services of reputable specialists or contractors who will accompany us on the inspection to evaluate large heating systems, flat roofs, chimneys, or other specialized systems and components. We can tailor our inspections of commercial properties and larger properties to meet the specific needs of clients and investors to lower the greater risks that exist when purchasing larger properties. The "sample reports" section of our website has an example of a report that was formulated for a large residential apartment building.

OTHER SERVICES
Radon Testing
Our firm also provides Radon tests in conformance with EPA standards. We utilize state of the art electronic continuous radon monitors for our tests.
Pest and Wood Boring Insect Evaluations
Some of our clients opt for a separate evaluation for wood boring insects and/or pests. Some lending institutions require such evaluations. In such cases we can arrange for an inspection by an independent certified pest and extermination specialist who will accompany us on our inspection. This individual will evaluate the premises for the presence of wood boring insects and other pests.
Chimney Inspections
Our inspections include a limited evaluation of fireplaces and chimneys. However, we are not chimney specialists and we are not specialists in regards to wood stoves. Some of our clients opt for a separate inspection performed by a chimney specialist to reduce the risks associated with deficiencies in chimneys, wood stoves, and fireplaces. If our clients desire, we can arrange for an inspection by an independent chimney specialist who will accompany us on our inspection so that a more detailed evaluation of the fireplace(s), chimney(s) and wood stoves can be performed. Partial Inspections and Structural InspectionsThe Licensed Professional Engineers in our firm specialize in existing building construction. It is not uncommon for home and building owners to hire our firm to evaluate specific aspects of a building that they currently own. Examples would include evaluations of roofs, attic ventilation, basement water infiltration, foundation issues, structural framing, new construction methods and materials, etc. Please feel free to contact our office for specific information regarding such services.
